Multi-Family Move Out Guide

Reduce Waste During Your Move

By following the tips and resources listed here, you will help our community to reduce waste, conserve resources, and comply with State and local laws.

TIME TO PURGE?

Please sort unwanted items into your Recyclables, Organics and Garbage carts/bins correctly. Contact us or visit our website for more information regarding our Multi-Family On-Call Clean Up Program for large/bulky items.

NEED PACKING MATERIALS?

Ask your property manager if another resident recently moved in and could pass along empty boxes and other packing supplies. Also check Craigslist.org and Freecycle.org to see if another local resident has posted moving supplies. Visit nearby moving companies like U-Haul too; they may have gently-used boxes available for no charge. Avoid using packing materials that are not reusable or recyclable.

UNWANTED HOUSEHOLD ITEMS?

If they’re still in good condition, choose to sell or donate instead of dispose. Take a trip to a local consignment shop or try using one of these resources:

Craigslist.org

Freecycle.org

Eastbaygoodwill.org

SATruck.org

Or, consider donating to a favorite local church or charity.

HAZARDOUS WASTE HAS ITS PLACE.

It is illegal to dispose of hazardous waste in your Organics, Recyclables and Garbage carts/bins. Please take toxic materials to Alameda County’s nearby collection facility. There is no charge. Visit stopwaste.org/hhw or call 800-606-6606 for location, hours and more detailed information.
